Williams suspended for gambling!

But Holmes said the draft, to him, is about the long game. That’s why he traded up to draft injured receiver Jameson Williams.

“I didn’t really care if he played last year. I didn’t,” he said. “If he did, he did. I’m glad he did. But, you know, I was looking for (him to play) this year.

“So, you know, you’ve just got to take the best player and the best player that fits us. And that’s what we’ll do.”

Well…

Well, can Jamo be in the facility and work out and all that while suspended from games?

Williams, Berryhill, Cephus and Moore are the first Lions players to be suspended for a violation of the league’s betting policy since defensive end Alex Karras got a one-year ban for placing wagers on NFL games in 1963.

Got to wonder how the NFL got the evidence to know beyond a shadow of a doubt that the bets were made within a teams facility BY the player (girlfriend used my phone). Did they spy on communications or did the gambling sites divulge client information. I would hope that Jamo appeals this saying what he was accused of isn’t accurate. His agent or the players association should try to get the punishment rescinded or at least reduced.

There is NO EXCUSE for gambling on NFL games, so bye bye to CJ Moore and Quinten Cephus

Knock it off. You are Catastrophizing. The Lions handled it. Brad and Dan will take ownership. Adults ■■■■■■ up and they were given consequences. Just because you found out about it today, doesn’t mean it hasn’t been known for a while…one might even say…why certain staff did not come back. Brad is the one who turned in the guys to begin with…when you are on the outside looking in it is easy to not understand how this works.

Brad apparently knew last month

im guessing he called the NFL in on the situation after he found out.

I definitely think there is quite a bit of overeation to this news on here.

Yes it is clearly an issue and it needs to be shut down now. The Lions did the right thing by releasing Cephus and Moore considering they bet on the NFL. Taking into account Jameson did something that would have been zero issue if he was outside of the facility, it isn’t a major red flag on its own.

This does add to the list of relatively minor issues we have discussed and is now starting to be a trend. Maybe this acts as a wake up call?

I personally thought WR was already near the top of our list of needs, with this news putting it right behind DT, IMO.

This is exactly why I pushed for Chark because without Jamo, our offense is desperate for speed. We have Kalif Raymond and maybe Swift. Even if we get JSN, we would still need to add someone like Archane, Hyatt, Palmer, etc.

Frustrated Headache GIF by Kelly Clarkson

I see this as being more on Dan than Brad.
Expensive lesson that was totally avoidable.
I promise you this will be covered better in the future. No chance Gambling is a big part of the coach Campbell culture…which IMO points to ignorance.

JaMoss reminds me of Isiah Thomas. The reasons ppl love him are some of the same reasons ppl hate him.
Jamoss is not a “cover your bases” type of guy. He’s like an animal that has a ton of warrior/dog to him. Not a general that orchestrates a strategy…he’s the animal that you drop into action that just starts kicking ass.
That’s hyperbole to make a point…he gets to start being more professional…like NOW

I’m guessing he is innocent in intent & ignorant AF on this, but that’s not an excuse. He gets to think more & start carrying himself like a man with a multimillion dollar job, instead of a child playing on the 7th grade football team.

So I wonder which staff member snitched to start the ball rolling on this, & what caused said employee to be disgruntled

Honestly

him losing money should be a big ■■■■■■■ wakeup call tbh

lost all his guarantees from this situation

I don’t think so. I think he has to stay away from the facility once the suspension starts.

he can still participate in offseason stuff, but i dont think he can use anything during the season untill like week 3-4

This matters if we lose games that we could have won with better offense in the 6 or hopefully 4 that Jamo is suspended, really.

It makes me think they will take a WR, but not rd 1. Maybe rd 2 now. Burner replacement.

He is a freaking knucklehead.

I dont think it knocks Carter off their board if he is there.

That they had 4 players and a bunch of staffers doing this makes me wonder about how much of a handle does Brad and Dan actually have on the culture…but I bet it’ll be a little less buddy/chummy going forward

I think it does take some shine off the narrative/brand, which sucks.

HOW ■■■■■■■ DUMB DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO NOT JUST GO GET A STRAW BETTOR AND HAVE THEM SCREENSHOT THE BETSLIP TO YOU. DO YOU HAVE FRIENDS?

The gambling platforms monitor these guys and rat you out, its part of the contract w the NFL. Again, straw bettor, ffs.

At this point, the NFL just needs to completely ban it by players. This team facility carve out is stupid.

Betting on college is still a problem because these guys have natural contacts and inside info opportunities, and in college, as we’ve seen w NIL, Georgia, Alabama etc etc its the Wild Shittibg West and there are nonrules and no enforcement and no honesty and no ethics and thats what DIPSHITS like Jamo are being taught. You cant control the environment they come from, so just blanket ban it.

Also, ■■■■ You, Jamo.

He might think incentive to gamble more to get back what he lost

It really should be.

This could be a HUGE blessing in disguise for the Lions. Now he has to perform for his money.

Man, I was just out exercising, feeling good, and then see this bullshit. WTF are these idiots thinking.

People said we had too many draft picks and not enough roster spots this week right…smh.

Yup - Looks like Brad’n’the boys are well prepared & this will change nothing about the way we navigate the draft.

To our perception it’s different because we are just finding out.
