Williams suspended for gambling!

I hope they play him all 4 quarters of every preseason game.

Looks like he can’t for the first 3 weeks, but gets a warm up period the 2nd 3 weeks.

Yes, it is because ā€œthey lost their jobs as wellā€ that Brad sent a message that this misbehavior will not be tolerated. That is setting the standards for enforcing the kind of culture the Lions want.

I can also understand why some on this board would question the ban on gambling when at any NFL facility, but the rules make sense in light of today’s news. Simply stated, the NFL does not want a gambling culture to become ingrained within a team. Gambling and sports tend to attract the same people and if staff members get into it as well, this only reinforces gambling by the players.

Kwesi didn’t really get much from Cine, Booth, or Asamoah in 2022… he may want to wait to see if they can play first.

PR wise, i do think this is a significiant issue, but it seems the Lions really cut out everyone outside of Jamo for this mess

Idk if other pplayers/personal got him into it, but still, precident has been set with Ridley, you cant do this shit in the facility.

I guess, but these aren’t college kids. They’re adults, professionals, guys getting paid a lot of money to be professionals. It’s on them to know what things will cause them to get suspended and miss game checks. Plenty of other Lions managed to not get caught gambling in the facility.

I’m looking at Jamo, his dumb tweet about Lamar Jackson, now this, other small things since we drafted him, and he’s just coming off more and more like an immature, selfish a-hole who’s apt to do dumb shit without thinking it through. That can be the kind of problem that stays with you for a whole career, or short-circuits it.

You guys need to quit with those three letters.

This may be a bit of a big deal, but it’s an even bigger deal if everyone just thinks about it all the time.

Yeah this sucks, but we need to put it in the rearview mirror and keep moving forward.

But this is not going to send us back into three letter purgatory.

Of all the types of infractions and injuries that could happen… this one feels recoverable for me.

No jail time. No physical abuse. No physical harm. No substance abuse.

You want kids to scrape their knees and come back smarter and stronger.

Wow what an idiot. Something like this could easily take Carter off our board now or atleast make Brad even more hesitant.

Well I have to say this smells like a first round bust so far. What a start…

At least we still know he can fly

Nobody wants to say it but I will:

Holmes and Campbell deserve to take heat for this. It’s their team. Their job is to make sure:

A) Guys understand the rules

And

B) Guys follow these rules

It happened under their watch and it was clearly a bunch of both players and staff. That’s on leadership.

I’m glad they cut ties with most. It’s a good start. But everybody around the league will now question their ability.

This certainly would be good news, IMO.

Yup - Agree. There will be a BIG …NOT FUN…meeting about this in the facility (probably a few of 'em)

They’ll win most of the games without him. I think this is a lesson to Dan.

Great question. Is this somehow freeing up cap space?

Biggest question I still have → WHICH COACHES got fired?

C. If A is taught & B isn’t happening why did you draft the guy

  1. Carter is off the table.
  2. Williams is dumb.
  3. Can’t have EVERY pick hit.
  4. WR is a need.
