Draft talk 2025/2026

Supposedly he reported to camp at around 400 lbs and played himself into shape. If he ever even was at 360 it was just the close of the season. And of course he played much better.

While I’m less certain of him busting than you are, this is also where I reside.

I don’t know that he’ll bust unless he’s drafted to be a tackle. If he’s taken in the 2nd to be a guard he could hit.

I think what scouts are going to have to figure out is whether he is just naturally unathletic, which I doubt from what I’ve seen, or whether he needs to play lighter. Then they’ll need to figure out, if the conclusion is playing lighter, whether he is going to constantly battle this and decide if this is a ongoing character/dedication issue. IMO, Proctor has the most to gain or lose at the combine. As you mentioned, I doubt he’ll do some of the drills. But if he does and does well he could skyrocket.

As for the other guys that are similar, that doesn’t necessarily deter me personally. All prospects are unique in their own way. I’m apt to believe some of it was really weight. I know I read something that he was down to like 345 by late October and accounts were he looked rough against teams like FSU early, then settled down. Had a decent game vs OKLA Thomas in the playoffs.

But he is definitely a guy they really need to really do their homework on. I suspect you may be right though and they will pass at 17. Just because of question marks. Proctor is your classic 6.5 boom or bust. But…man does he intrigue me because in the right situation he can move people.

Again, I think he has a chance to be a top 10 iOL in the league, the power he plays with is lights out and a lot of the issues I have with him would be mitigated on the inside. If we ended up drafting him to play in there I’d be thrilled. I’d rather not spend 17 on that, but if he ended up being that good I wouldn’t care in the end.

Ah, see we disagree there. I thought Thomas gave him fits. But the experience watching Proctor on tape is a little different… he had, oh, 6 or 7 reps where he just buried Thomas. The kind that made you sit up and take notice. The problem is he had 4 or 5 where he was clearly beat. And an OT can’t be clearly beat on 4 or 5 reps. Give me the boring T who doesn’t stand out - positively or negatively - any day. I actually think this is at the root of the disconnect with him. His highlights are HIGHlights, and it’s easy to imagine what he could be. The problem comes when you watch the lowlights next to them.

I’ve said this before but athletically he reminds me of Manu. People scoff when I say that, but I’m not talking as prospects - Proctor is much more refined, has more power in his hands and frame, and is probably a touch more explosive - but in the way they move. They’re both really big guys with awesome linear juice who struggle to move laterally. It’s pretty clear in Manu’s RAS. His 40 finished in the 90th percentile overall, with a 20 yards split in the 96th. His vert was 97th percentile, but his agility scores told a different story: 47th percentile short shuttle and 18th percentile 3-cone. I would expect Proctor to be a similar sort of tester, though again, I highly doubt he does the 3-cone or the SS. Then, when you watch the tape and where they struggle, the story is similar there as well.

I came into the year sky high on Proctor, I think he was like 2nd or 3rd overall on my board? So I understand the hype. But OL for me is a position where the developmental track should curve relatively upward. I know no path is standard, but the general trend for the best prospects is to continue to get better as their technique improves, they get stronger (not an issue for Proctor admittedly) and they gain more wisdom from their experience. It’s like… if Freeling had returned to school, he would have been a top 5 guy for me next year. But baked into that would be to continue the improvement he showed over the back half of the year (which I am currently baking into his evaluation). If he didn’t, I would punish his grade. If he backslid, I would punish it pretty severely.

Jeremiah’s top 50 update

That’s absurdly high for Cooper, but then DJ drove the Golden hype train and I’m glad it tricked GB into taking him lol.

@Jman . Are we doing the den draft again this year?

I LOVE EMW, but that’s too high. Though late first round seems fine.

I do think Emmanwori is really helping EMW’s stock. I think the former was a better prospect, and as you know I wasn’t the highest on him, though he went about where I had him.

My favorite mock draft site is Walterfootball. Some mocks, and evaluators are decent while others are terrible. I think Charlie Campbell is respectable. Right now he has Proctor and Faulk top 10 again. So boo for me!

Who do you take?

In that scenario I would take Styles. I love Freeling, but Styles is the #2 guy on my board. And if we’re insistent on playing 3 LBs, we need as much juice as possible there.

Exactly… Styles is a HR pick, Freeling would be a nice 2nd option

Drafting a defensive end named Jackass would clearly go over well on the den.
